The West London Alliance (WLA) is a partnership between seven local authorities: Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow. The WLA forms partnerships that develop, drive and deliver improvements for everyone that lives, works, learns, visits and invests in West London. We deliver initiatives by working across borough boundaries with a focus on two programme areas: Strategic Commissioning across social care and housing and Economy and Skills.
As our Chief Officer for Strategic Commissioning, you will have the ability and ambition to imagine and realise the potential of designing and delivering services in a unique and outcome focused way for vulnerable people across West London, London and the country
Reporting to the WLA Director, the Commissioning Alliance Commercial Board, as well as customer boards across Children’s and Adult’s Social Care and Housing you will play a leading role in shaping markets and delivering transformational projects to improve outcomes and reduce cost in West London and beyond. You will also be accountable for operational delivery, development and growth.
The Commissioning Alliance is focused on the transformation of commissioning services for vulnerable residents. This is about leading and delivering innovative solutions and services to meet our members significant challenges and developing the West London Alliance technology platform CarePlace. You will lead joint working to solve system problems through combined strategy, consistent delivery, central services and intelligent use of data and digitalisation.
This role will build on the growth to date, equating to over 150% increase in spend through the contracts and with services delivered to every local authority in London and over 50 local authorities in total. You will be responsible for selling existing services to new local authorities and developing new category solutions across the portfolio (adults, children’s and housing).
The postholder requires outstanding strategic and operational leadership skills gained in either the public or private sector. You will need the ability to facilitate and deliver through exceptional partnership working within and between West London boroughs and other partners locally, regionally and nationally, including businesses, providers, the voluntary and community sector, the GLA, London Councils, DfE and other central government agencies.
