Commissioning Alliance rolling out BERRI for Local Authority Children’s Services

BERRI is a simple to use evidence-based psychological screening tool that helps social workers and care givers understand a child’s care needs. The tool enables users to track the progress of a young person and contribute to their care planning. It is designed to supplement understanding of what might predict incidents, disruptions and outcome, and what might prevent them. The information gathered assists placements teams and commissioners to identify the most suitable care settings for Local Authorities – improving outcomes and increasing value. The collection of evidence can also be used as part of monitoring information with providers.

As part of an Innovate UK programme, the Commissioning Alliance team has been assisting our Local Authority members trial the tool over a 12-month project. To date, we have rolled out training and support to over 200 social care staff and providers with more planned over the coming weeks.

There are still a limited number of spaces for other local authorities to join the project. Please contact Nathan Whitley WhitleyN@ealing.gov.uk for more information or if you’d like to get involved.
